Get To Know Me

Welcome! My name is Neela and I am a Certified Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P) and I am passionate about healing holistically through the inside out.
As a child, I lived a fairly active life, playing all the sports with an active social life. Once I hit puberty, I experienced irregular cycles and acne that embarrassed me to no end. I went to my doctor for answers, and at only 15 years old, I immediately was placed on the birth control pill and accutane, two very strong medications with harsh side effects that I did not understand at the time. I continued to be active until college, where I had more freedom and temptations on what I put in my body. By the end of college, I had gained weight, I was bloated and constipated 24/7 no matter what I ate, and I was riddled with anxiety, brain fog and constant fatigue.
I saw many doctors who labeled me with IBS, told me there was no cure, and prescribed the latest medications to help relieve bloating and constipation. After a few months, my symptoms would come back worse than ever and the cycle would start again. I tried every single diet and exercise routine along with working with many health and fitness coaches to shed the pounds with no results and eventually I accepted that my body was a failure. My bloating was so bad at this point that I feared eating foods, because I knew the result would be looking 8 months pregnant. This caused restriction and eating a low variety of foods, which further worsened my gut health and metabolism.
After spending thousands of dollars on my health, I wanted to find a solution that I wasn’t receiving from other coaches or providers and discovered functional health. I decided to take control of my body and become certified as a FDN-P. After functional lab testing, I learned that poor gut health was wreaking havoc on my hormones, mental health and metabolism. My testing revealed leaky gut, SIBO, parasites, an overload of toxins, specifically heavy metals and mold, along with severe metabolic dysfunction. I learned that diet alone, while important, was only a piece of the puzzle. After getting to know my body on a deeper level, adding the right diet, lifestyle and mindset changes, along with targeted supplements, I was finally on my way to healing.
The most important lesson I learned: Our bodies have the ability to heal given the right tools and support.
